The Internet has many places to ask questions about anything imaginable and find past answers on almost everything.
In the late 60’s the company began working with Master Luthier, Kazuo Yairi. This collaboration turned out to be a remarkable success and our Alvarez-Yairi guitars are still handmade in the Yairi factory today, in the small town of Kani, Japan.
If you want to buy a guitar with high structural strength, enhanced longevity, attractive design and admirable sound quality, Alvarez is a highly recommended named. It produces a vast variety of acoustic-electric and acoustic guitars. The brand also presents a range of baritone, bass and classical guitars.
As a general rule, American-made guitars, particularly electrics, are better made and of higher quality. The reason isn’t because Americans are better at making guitars. The main reason is because America uses foreign factories to make the lower priced economy models.
Taylor does not manufacture any guitars in Asia. Taylor only manufactures guitars in El Cajon, California and Tecate, Mexico.
The craftsmanship is painstaking and the wood choice is excellent. There is nothing to dislike about the guitar. Every electric I’ve ever played by them has also been top notch.
In short, most of the top guitar brands are made in the United States (North America), Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, China, and Mexico. American and Japanese guitars are the top of the line and the others are meant for the mass production of budget options.
They are in my opinion, a high quality build and very consistent. Blueridge by Saga Music is another good product made in China. As far as I know they only build Blueridge. Maury’s Music here on the AGF is a great Blueridge dealer and you can be assured of getting a good instrument or Maury will make it right.
