It should first be noted that while there are several differences in the two parks, they are overall the same branch of theme parks, Universal Orlando. The entirety of this park conglomerate includes Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay.
Universal Studios Escape
As already noted, two of its inaugural attractions – Dragon Challenge and Flight of the Hippogriff – were makeovers of two pre-existing rides, Dueling Dragons and Flying Unicorn, respectively; Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, along with the Hogwarts Castle that it sits within, was previously-undeveloped land.
Opening Day Attractions (May 28, 1999)
The easiest way to tell the difference is that Universal Studios is based more on movies and TV shows, whereas Islands of Adventure is where the fantasy and thrill rides are. The most unique park of the three is Volcano Bay, which is a fully themed water park that feels like you’ve discovered your own paradise island.
The Funtastic World of Hanna Barbera was the first simulator ride to open at a Universal park.

With that said, Universal is less expensive than Walt Disney World in most ways. Park tickets and food prices are not particularly noticeable, but the big one is hotel rates. Not only is Universal significantly cheaper, but its resorts include perks that would cost additional money at Walt Disney World.

The name on the tickets only needs to match one member of the party for verification. After that, all the tickets for your party will be accepted. If you do still need a change because that person will not be there, we can assist you.
How do I change my reservation after it is booked prior to travel? If you plans require adding or removing guests, change of travel dates or any other adjustments, please call the Universal Orlando Guest Contact Center at 1-800-711-0080 to revise your reservation.
